Bayer's Oxidation:-

Alkenes react with cold dilute potassium permanganate solution to form glycols, glycols are compounds whose molecules contain two -OH groups on adjacent carbons. The reaction looks like the addition of two -OH groups of hydrogen peroxide  HO - OH to a double bond.
